Current openings for PhD students

Fully funded PhD studentships (fees and stipend) are available on the following projects to start in October 2027:

1. Quantum computing with atoms and molecules in optical tweezers (Tweezers lab)

2. Quantum spin dynamics with ultracold polar molecules (Microscope lab)

Other projects may also be available through competitive funding applications (e.g. Faculty of Science SCOPE Doctoral Studentships).

Current openings for Postdoctoral Researchers

We have no current vacancies, but are always interested in hearing from potential applicants with a passion for experimental research in AMO physics.

Support for Postdoctoral Fellowships

We welcome approaches from postdoctoral researchers interested in applying for independent research fellowships to be hosted in Durham. We have a strong track record in supporting successful applications to a range of schemes and encourage candidates considering applying for any of the following fellowships to contact Prof. Simon L.
