Join us!

We are always looking for talented and motivated students and postdocs with an interest in cutting-edge experimental research in quantum science and technology. Please contact Prof. Simon L. Cornish to enquire about current opportunities.

Current openings for PhD students

Fully funded PhD studentships (fees and stipend) are available on the following projects:

1. Quantum computing with atoms and molecules in optical tweezers (Tweezers lab)

2. Quantum spin dynamics with ultracold polar molecules (Microscope lab)

3. Bose-Einstein condensation of polar molecules (Molecular BEC lab)

4. Atomic clocks, optical lattices and ultracold molecules (CsYb lab)

Current openings for Postdoctoral Researchers

We are currently seeking several postdoctoral researchers with experience in the field ultracold quantum gases to join the Microscope lab and the Molecular BEC lab. Both openings are associated with a new five-year multi-institution research grant on “Quantum many-body physics with ultracold polar molecules”.

Support for Postdoctoral Fellowships

We welcome approaches from postdoctoral researchers interested in applying for independent research fellowships to be hosted in Durham. We have a strong track record in supporting successful applications to a range of schemes and encourage candidates considering applying for any of the following fellowships to contact Prof. Simon L. Cornish: the Royal Society University Research Fellowship, the Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Fellowship, the Royal Society Newton International Fellowship and the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postoctoral Fellowships.
